Welcome to the Continuing Education for Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioners Web Site!

The February 2009 offering of courses funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care is now over.

There are currently no courses scheduled to be offered.  Courses will tentatively be offered next in January 2010 pending financial support from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and enrollment.

Please continue to monitor this site for updates. Go to Interest in Future Courses to express your interest in specific courses. When courses are available for enrolment you will be notified by email.

 A flexible option is offered for course enrollment. Nurses may choose:

  •  to take an entire course (13 modules over 13 weeks)
  • select any number of specific modules of interest from any course.

These Continuing Education courses are for RN-Extended Class and registered nurses practicing in an expanded role in Ontario. These courses will assist nurses to:

  • significantly increase the knowledge and confidence of nurses practicing in expanded roles;
  • establish and strengthen the network of contacts;
  • support recruitment and retention by enabling nurses to access continuing education in their own communities;
  • improve the health outcomes of their clients.
  • fulfill reflective practice or quality assurance requirements defined by provincial nursing regulating bodies.
